When the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade, Indiana raced to ban abortion across the state, being the first state to ban them after the landmark ruling.
I believe in safety; it's not the government's pregnancy It's not the government's baby. We must ensure that women are free to have bodily autonomy and that doctors are not prosecuted for providing healthcare.
I believe in safe, reliable, and affordable healthcare for all Hoosiers, including abortion care, IVF, and hormone replacement therapy. As your State Senator, I will fight to restore a woman’s right to choose and protect medical freedoms.
Our education system is the single most important building block of a strong economy. These kids are our future, and they deserve the very best we can offer. We need to take care of our teachers with fair wages and benefits. Most importantly, we need to listen to their concerns and be flexible in providing what they need to provide the best education our kids deserve. We must also ensure that parent's voices are heard and that support is available to them.
Indiana is 25th in the nation for education, but we can do better. I will empower teachers’ unions and ensure our schools are safe, judgment-free zones where students can thrive. I will work for free lunches for all students here in Indiana. With strong support, Indiana’s future will shine bright!
As your next Senator, I will stand up for public education and ensure that teachers, parents, and students have what they need to succeed.
The attacks on the LGBTQ community that we have seen from the Statehouse are an attempt to distract from the fact that our government is at a standstill. We need to stop looking at Indiana politics as US vs. THEM. Being gay is the least exciting thing about me. We must stop legislating hate and stand up for our vulnerable populations.
As your next Senator, I will stand up for our LGBTQ+ population and fight for legislation that protects them.
If you made it to my page because you decided to Google me after receiving a mailing with false information... welcome, and thank you for being an educated voter. Let's talk about budget surplus.
That incriminating mailer was kind enough to remind the voters that the 20-year Republican party rule has been over taxing Hoosiers to the tune of 2 billion dollars. Now I don't have all the answers, but when I have a surplus in my home business or non-profit, I do one of three things. Pay down any outstanding debt, save it for a rainy day, or invest it in the future. In government, we have a fourth option of returning money back to the taxpayers. Unfortunately my opponent voted for herself and colleagues to receive a raise (44% to 66% for elected government officials). I don't think lining the pockets of out politicians is the best use of that money.
Our officers deserve the best equipment and training possible. We ask them to Protect and serve, and we must give them what they need to do that. We must also invest in technologies such as body cameras to ensure our officers are held to the highest standards.
As your Senator, I pledge to ensure they have the tools they need now and for the future. This includes fair compensation and retirement benefits. I will also advocate for a Citizens Oversight Board that ensures that the average Hoosier can have their voice heard.
I moved to Indiana for its famous Hoosier Hospitality. Hoosier Hospitality is showing friendliness and kindness to ALL our guests, families, friends, and neighbors. This doesn't come with stipulations. We must always show that spirit, especially in legislation.
I am a servant and an advocate. I decided to run to be a voice for those who feel as though they are not being seen or heard. I value helping your neighbor and building a strong community. As your Senator, I will always legislate with these values at heart.
This also includes embracing the diversity found in Indiana. Our diversity is what makes us strong and makes Indiana the great state that it is.
Ideally communication works best when it is open, honest, and non-judgmental. Unfortunately, there are a very small percentage of parents that do not love unconditionally. This is exactly why we need places like Trinity Haven or KIC-IT Johnson County. If a student feels unsafe at home and feels more comfortable talking to another trusted adult whether it be a pastor, a teacher, or a guidance counselor, who has the education and experience to help that student with very vulnerable conversations, such as the journey of coming out. Take a moment to tell your kids you love them no matter what. A little love goes a long way.
We need to get partisan politics out of legislation and pass bills that actually make sense and help people. Too much of the session's limited time is taken up by bills that don't make sense and seem to do more harm than good. We need to get back to passing legislation that's focused on helping Hoosiers, not hurting them.
